PMT Ripple Noise

PMT power supplies use oscillating circuits. This generates background noise in the acquired signal, which becomes visible as a ‘cross-hatch’ pattern. The cross-hatch pattern changes shape as the voltage level of the PMT power supply is changed. This noise is unavoidable. It is acceptable as long as the level of the actual signal is orders of magnitude larger than the background noise.
